Re: Pay & Benefits at Non-Represented Sites

Over the last several months the Company has heard questions from employees regarding pay and benefits at our non-represented sites. Below, the Company has provided a synopsis of those questions along with our responses.

Q: What will happen if employees decertify the Union?

The law prohibits the Company from making promises about what your pay and benefits would be if you decertify, and we will not do so. However, we are allowed to commit that we will not reduce current wages or reduce current benefits.

Q: How does pay at the Beaumont Refinery compare to non-represented sites?

Again, we are not allowed to make promises, and we will not do so. We can report that non-represented employees at comparable sites are paid 5% to 7% more and have similar benefits. The charts below show the difference between the USW-represented Beaumont Refinery’s (BMRF) top rate in the Assistant Operator and Mechanical Specialist job classifications and the comparable Process Technician and Mechanical Technician job classifications at the non-represented Beaumont Chemical Plant (BMCP). Note, the 2021 table reflects the changes to the Company’s offer effective November 1.

2019 BMRF BMCP 2020 BMRF BMCP 2021 BMRF BMCP
Process $ 42.62 $ 45.50 Process $ 44.11 $ 47.09 Process $ 44.32 $ 47.56
Mechanical $ 42.82 $ 45.50 Mechanical $ 44.32 $ 47.09 Mechanical $ 44.32 $ 47.56

Additionally, non-represented employees do not pay  $125+ per month in union dues.

Q: How do benefits at the Beaumont Refinery compare to non-represented sites?

Again, we are not allowed to promise employees’ pay and benefits if you decertify the USW.  However, ExxonMobil considers core benefits such as: pension, savings, health insurance, disability benefits, etc. as a standard offering for which all full-time regular employees are equally eligible with the same cost sharing. We commit that your pay and benefits will not be reduced if you decertify the Union.

Q: What are some of the benefits enjoyed at the non-represented sites not currently offered at the Beaumont Refinery?

Again, we can’t make promises about pay and benefits if the Union is decertified.  Currently, non-represented employees enjoy benefits such as: personal time, paid parental time off (8 weeks of PPTO), and increased vacation scheduling flexibility to name a few.

Any questions related to the employee led decertification effort can be submitted to Beaumont Area HR Department at  Beaumont.Area.HR@exxonmobil.com.
